Las Vegas Vibes
Everyone experiences Las Vegas in their own way. With the camera in front of my nose I stumbled upon some less common Las Vegas vibes.
Las Vegas
The story of Las Vegas: The city in the US state of Nevada that everyone knows by name and immediately associates with gambling, temptation and flash weddings.
In fact, already on the list of the most famous casinos in Las Vegas it becomes clear that there are numerous opportunities for challenging luck. But how did a place located in the middle of a desert area grow into a city of such magnitude and fame that everyone knows it?
The area around Las Vegas was first discovered in 1829. Spanish conquistadors had come across the area, but it did not receive much attention. Almost 30 years later, in 1855, the first settlement was built by Mormons on a site that was a former Spanish trade route. Artesian wells were also found there, which led to the naming of the previously unnamed area.
Artesian wells are wells that are located in a valley, so that the rising of the water by, for example, rain can not cause destruction. Because of the hilly landscape and the land turned green by the wells, the name "Las Vegas" was created, which means "green meadows".
The Mormons established a permanent trading post in Las Vegas, so Las Vegas became a city in 1905. Due to an incipient gold rush in Las Vegas, the hunt for the precious metal became the Mormons' undoing - they were driven out.
In addition to the hunt for gold, mining companies became more popular and the work to extract raw materials became more extensive. The incipient industry had to be supplied with all resources, so workers' settlements sprang up.
The connection to the railroad system and a steady upswing of workers ensured an enormous growth rate of the population.
In 1931, the construction of a dam brought even more people to the city, so population and real estate construction boomed. Working on the dam was the occupation of the day; at night, the young men usually sought diversion.
The distraction was found by the workers with businessmen who allowed gambling to sprout. With the armaments industry starting in 1939, Las Vegas continued to grow and more and more factories were located. More and more people became associated with gambling, amusement was high on the "to do" list.
Famous shows by a star like Elvis Presley followed, who brought the city to the whole world with his song "Viva las Vegas". Thus, a place in the middle of a desert became a casino metropolis.
